Hillcrest Wind Ensemble celebrates the 40th anniversary of our founding as San Diego’s Finest City Freedom Band with our Winter Concert, With Pride and Joy! SDFCFB was founded on June 24, 1985 by a small group of musicians to provide music for the LGBT community in San Diego. Initially, rehearsals were held at The Big Kitchen in South Park. The first concert was held on September 16, 1985.
Much of the music in our anniversary celebration comes from that first concert, including works by Bagley, Erickson, Sousa, Holst,…
